Ffmpeg convert h264 to mp411/12/2022 ![]() ![]() While the high quality intro still has a comparatively nice look and the slides are good looking anyway. ![]() That's how I compressed a video from ~650MB (33 Mins.) to ~63MB in the end. I got the best results when I chose very high quality export at first and then took the two-pass approach to compress the file. What I additionally found out is that the quality in the end while having the same file size is heavily dependent on the original export of the video from your editing software. At least I think for my kind of purpose the two-pass is better than the crf encoding. This are the command lines I use at the moment: ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -c:v libx264 -preset slower -crf 20 -c:a copy output.mp4įfmpeg -i input.mp4 -c:v libvpx -qmin 0 -qmax 50 -crf 10 -b:v 0.4M -c:a libvorbis output.webmĮxample for the problem: When I convert to webm and I set the target bitrate to roughly 300-400 kbit/s on average, it would be nice if for example the intro video could get 1-2 Mbit/s while the remaining slides receive like 100-200 kbit/s.ĮDIT#1 (14.05.17): First: Thanks for your help and/or suggestions.įor the mp4-Conversion: After some kind of testing I was very succesful with the two-pass approach as I think it's much more useful if you have a high variance in needed bitrate or lets just say a mixed video consisting of camera footage and static pictures. Which would mean having a really really variable bitrate. Target file size: ~60MB Which conversion settings for ffmpeg should I chose to receive the best result with respect to the quality? For me it would be nice to know how to distribute lets say 20% of the filesize to the intro. ![]() The length of the Video is roughly 30 mins. The video itself is more or less a slideshow with a high quality video in the beginning. I need to convert videos, usually mp4 files to smaller sized mp4s and webms. ![]()
